Falls Church’s FIRSTfriday, held the first Friday of each month, creates business and social synergy in the city of Falls Church. The event attracts people to view local artwork and events, learn about the city’s history, and shop and dine in downtown Falls Church.

• Book signing with author Laura Brodie and her new novel "The Widow's Season" set in Virginia. Experimental Media Series 2009

   Since 2006, the Experimental Media Series has showcased the talents of artists working in sound and video art.
This year’s selection of finalists’ works will present the leading edge in electronic media works. The most compelling entries, as selected by the juror Kelly Gordon, Associate Curator of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and based on overall quality and innovation, will be awarded the Kraft Prize for New Media and the WPA Experimental Art Prize, two cash prizes of $750 each, to be presented on October 1 at The Phillips Collection.

The next installment in the Coup d'Espace series: The Miraculous Artist. A performance and video installation by WPA member artist Carolina Mayorga

The Miraculous Artist is an interactive installation comprising video, performance, live music, printed material, and a non-denominational confessional. On opening night, audience members will have the opportunity to consult with and receive free advice from The Miraculous Artist. For a small fee, visitors can purchase a variety of laminated cards to that proffer solutions to individual problems. Mayorga's installation will be accompanied on opening night by an improvised organ repertoire performed by musician, Greg Svitil. Don't miss this one-night-only performance! (Installation will be on view at WPA through October 30)

Innocence & Arrogance: The Art of Arabella Proffer and Brandi Read

These two pop-surrealist and neo-realist women artists have teamed up to create an exciting exhibition of Punks, Goths, Muses, Models and Royalty. We are having a summer studio pARTy!

August is a sweltering month in Washington, DC... so what could be more appealing than an evening of art, dipping yourself into our mini pool and enjoying food and music as the sun goes down?

Our Summer Open Studio Party will be held
Saturday, August 8 from 6pm to ?

Twice a year we open our studio doors to let folks visit our working space, look at our works in progress and have some wine and cheese....but this summer we are making it into a summer pARTy bash! Though we can not compete with the art parties thrown by Damien Hirsh... we do plan to have a great time with our guests!

Dress for bbq fun and join us for an evening of merriment.
Bring a bathing suit and towel for a cool dip in our mini pool... take the metro so you can freely partake of our wine concoctions and beer!

We will be at the grill with Kosher hot dogs, chicken and summer salads and fruits for your enjoyment:
~(of course, more food & drink are always welcomed!)

So make plans to be here at OlivosARTstudio this summer for wine and food and a lovely gathering of friends with a side of art and music under the stars!
We look forward to seeing you!!!
